How to Paint

Leather and Faux Leather

Step-1

Use a soft lint-free cotton cloth with Preparer/De-glazer (generally 100% acetone) and wipe the entire surface of the leather. Gently scrub the surface until it begins to feel tacky. This will remove any contaminants and will soften the original polyurethane finish allowing the paint to form a strong chemical bond to the leather. Allow to air dry for at least 10 minutes before painting.

Do not use heat to speed up the above process, and remove all lint after your article is fully dry to obtain a completely
clean surface.

Step-2

You can now paint your article with Color and Cool Leather Paint. If you need to paint more than one layer to complete the design, allow 15-30 minutes between layers to dry. You can use heat to speed up this process.

Step-3

Once you complete your painting Project leave your leather to dry for at least 24 hours. To avoid flaws, keep an eye out for flying lint or debris landing on the surface.

Step-4

We recommend applying Color and Cool finishers (Matte or Shine) to coat the surface of your articles as the final step. Color and Cool Finishers provide the best protection against abrasives and give the matte (or shine) look you prefer. Allow for a few hours of drying
time.
